The volunteers, some of who are PMTCT lay counsellors, are trained to use SMS technology  known as Remind MI (Remind Mother and Infant) in delivering results and reminders to clients of the rural health centre. The system is confidential, the volunteer known as a Remind MI agent goes into the community to tell the client that they are needed at the clinic, the result is revealed by a healthcare worker at the clinic. While this system is effectively being used for the return of early infant diagnosis (EID) results for paediatric HIV/AIDS, it also used to remind about ante-natal visits, and post-natal vaccination routines.
