Wongo William Wilson is a clinical officer in Koboko, a rural district in Northern Uganda, 300 miles from Uganda’s capital. As part of his job, Wongo trains Village Health Teams (VHTs) – respected community members who act as advisors for health related issues in their villages. On this day, 41 VHTs have gathered in an empty church brick building without windows and electricity, to learn about nutrition for infants and mothers.

Before introducing MobiStation – a solar-powered, educative multimedia kit – into his training, the VHTs would read from printed training manuals and simply listen to Wongo’s teaching.

“Especially where there is no electricity, this thing is so so helpful,” Wongo states.

Using the in-built video content and the document reader, which now projects the training manual onto the wall, MobiStation has completely changed the dynamics of the training

“Now, they learn better,” says Wongo, “when you combine listening with seeing, the training is more vivid, they are more alert, it helps them pay attention. They will be our true embassadors to take the information that they get from us to the community down there.”

We are excited to show you Wongo’s story about how MobiStation acts as a force for change for Village Health Teams in rural Uganda.
